Empowering Africa’s Changemakers: The African Online Social Entrepreneurship Challenge by MasterPeace Morocco
MasterPeace Morocco, a prominent grassroots peace movement operating in over 40 countries, is spearheading the African Online Social Entrepreneurship Challenge. This virtual competition aims to empower young Africans to transform their passion for social impact into tangible projects that address pressing social and environmental issues.
Challenge Overview
The challenge invites aspiring changemakers, from budding entrepreneurs to seasoned innovators, to submit innovative solutions in four key areas aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
Quality Education: Ensuring inclusive, quality education for all and promoting lifelong learning.
Gender Equality: Empowering women and girls to achieve gender equality worldwide.
Decent Work & Economic Growth: Promoting sustained, inclusive economic growth and decent work opportunities.
Sustainable Cities & Communities: Creating sustainable, inclusive, and resilient cities and communities.
The challenge provides participants with access to dedicated experts and trainers from five countries, offering guidance and support to help bring their ideas to fruition.
Timeline
July 1, 2025: Deadline to submit project ideas.
July 20, 2025: Announcement of pre-selected projects.
July 26, 2025: Online Hackathon.
August 10, 2025: Submission of prototypes.
August 20, 2025: Announcement of winners.
Broader Impact and Related Initiatives
The project focuses on mobilizing talents for a sustainable future and contributing to SDGs 4 (Quality Education) and 16 (Peace and Justice). The Social Entrepreneurship Challenge within this project encourages teams to develop innovative solutions for their communities’ most pressing social issues through creative and sustainable initiatives.
In addition to the Social Entrepreneurship Challenge, MasterPeace Morocco is involved in other impactful programs such as the DARE 4.0 Mobile App Development Competition, which aims to equip young people with skills to accelerate the digital transformation of the economy and society. This competition encourages participants to develop mobile applications that demonstrate creativity, functionality, and a clear social impact.
